Halcyon Africa is accepting applications for its 2027 Innovation in Agriculture and Food Security Accelerator. The programme offers selected ventures from Sub-Saharan Africa a $10,000 equity-free stipend, $10,000 in AWS credits, and access to a global founder network. "Applications are now open for Halcyon’s Africa Innovation in Agriculture and Food Security Program 2027," the organisation said. Participants will also gain access to professional advisors, workshops on leadership and capital strategy, and networking opportunities with investors.
Eligibility and selection criteria
Applicants must be based in Sub-Saharan Africa and have a working Minimum Viable Product with early commercial traction. This traction can be demonstrated through paid pilots, revenue, customer contracts, or similar evidence of market demand. Ventures must also show early evidence of positive impact on smallholder farmers, low-income communities, or food systems.
The applicant must be the CEO or primary decision-maker, working full-time on the venture and at least 21 years old by the programme's start. A founder may apply with up to one co-founder. Fluency in English is required. The venture must contribute to one or more UN Sustainable Development Goals through market-based approaches that strengthen agriculture and food systems. The selection process assesses four principal criteria: Impact, Scalability, Innovation, and the Talent of the founding team.

Timeline and program structure
The hybrid programme runs from October 2026 to June 2027, combining virtual sessions with two in-person residencies. Selected founders must commit to full participation in all activities. Key dates for applicants are as follows:

The programme is designed for early-stage, impact-driven ventures that have progressed beyond the idea stage. It specifically prioritises solutions that improve the livelihoods and resilience of smallholder farmers and help food systems adapt to climate shocks. After completing the core programme, participants may retain access to benefits through Halcyon’s alumni community of more than 650 founders. The selected entrepreneurs will participate in a hybrid programme featuring virtual programming, a residency in Accra, Ghana, and a second residency in Nairobi, Kenya.
