Grant Season

Sources and methods

The grantseason site operates by collecting news from a defined set of published feeds and indexes from news publications that cover its core subject: the funding programme and its deadline. These sources are monitored continuously. Each qualifying news story is then processed with automated assistance to extract its key factual claims regarding programme details, eligibility, amounts, and deadlines. This extracted information is summarised and rewritten into a plain, standardised format for the site's news section. The original publication from which the story originated is always credited.

When a factual claim, such as a specific deadline or funding amount, appears in only one monitored publication, it is treated as provisional. It is published but is clearly flagged within the system as requiring secondary verification. The story will remain in this state until the claim is corroborated by another independent source from the monitored list. This method ensures that the information presented maintains a high standard of reliability for its audience in Latin America.

The site's permanent reference pages, such as those for a specific scholarship programme, funder, or destination, are built differently. They are constructed from stable, verified facts that have appeared across multiple independent news reports. These facts are compiled into a structured data table, forming the core of the page. Each reference page is also accompanied by a single, credited photograph sourced from the official channels of the subject, such as a funder's website or a university's media library.

All content on grantseason is subject to a regular refresh cycle. News items are reviewed and updated daily as new information is processed from the source feeds. The permanent reference pages are systematically reviewed and updated on a weekly basis. This process ensures that any new, verified information is integrated into the stable fact tables and that any provisional data is either confirmed or removed, keeping the entire resource current.
