World Bank Opens 2027 Government Analytics Fellowship Applications
The World Bank is accepting applications for its fully funded 2027 Government Analytics Fellowship, a program offering mid-level public officials training to build data-driven governance skills. The deadline for submissions is November 16, 2026.

Applications are now open for the World Bank Government Analytics Fellowship 2027. The program offers government officials from eligible countries a chance to develop skills in using data to improve public institutions, with a final deadline of November 16, 2026.
The fellowship is structured across three distinct tracks to accommodate different needs. Each format is designed to support officials in developing practical government analytics projects.
Eligibility and application requirements
Applicants must be nominated mid- to senior-level government officials or data practitioners employed in national or sub-national governments. They must work in a central government organization or agency. Each organization can nominate a maximum of two fellows.
Candidates need to hold a position with sufficient authority and have institutional support to develop a project. They must have completed tertiary-level coursework in statistics or related quantitative methods. Proficiency in English is required. Prior experience in data analysis or program evaluation is encouraged but not mandatory. Eligible project fields include policy evaluation, budgeting, service delivery, civil service reform, and digital transformation.
Required application documents must be submitted in English PDF format through the official World Bank portal. These are a comprehensive CV of no more than three pages, a 150-word project summary, and an endorsement letter from the nominating organization. Selection will be based on the candidate's profile, the quality and relevance of the project proposal, and its alignment with the program's goals.
In-person track details and benefits
The immersive in-person track is a fully funded, competitive six-month commitment. For selected fellows from Official Development Assistance (ODA)-eligible countries, the World Bank covers all travel, accommodation, and daily subsistence expenses for the in-person component.
This track includes approximately two weeks of full-time training in Washington, D.C., scheduled for March 2027. The in-person segment will feature participation in a Public Institutions Conference and a dedicated Government Analytics course. Fellows will receive expert mentorship from professionals at the World Bank and partner institutions like University College London. They will also connect with a global network of public servants, academics, and data practitioners.
The program builds on the World Bank's Government Analytics Handbook. Fellows will use this resource as they design and implement a practical analytics project aligned with their institution's goals. A selected group within this track will receive dedicated one-on-one mentoring from a World Bank expert in their project's field. Exact dates for the Washington, D.C. component will be communicated to selected fellows later.
Program goals and broader impact
The fellowship aims to strengthen government capacity to use administrative records and survey data for improved public institution performance and decision-making. It seeks to equip officials with the skills to drive reforms in areas like digital transformation and service delivery. By fostering a global learning community, the program encourages the exchange of innovative practices across borders.
Additional notes and clarifications
While the program is fully funded for applicants from ODA-eligible countries, the exact start date and specific regional hub locations have not yet been finalized. The fellowship is launched by the World Bank Development Economics Vice-Presidency in collaboration with several internal groups and academic partners. Interested applicants are advised to verify all details through the official channels. A third-party organization, Global South Opportunities, has clarified it is not the offering body and directs applicants to confirm procedures with the official program.
More information, including FAQs and a program presentation, is available on the official World Bank fellowship webpage. Applicants must submit their CV, project summary, and organizational endorsement letter via the official World Bank application portal by November 16, 2026.
