France's Eiffel Excellence Scholarship 2027 opens for applications
The French Government's Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Programme for 2027 offers monthly stipends of €2,100 for doctoral candidates and €1,200 for Master's students to international graduates, with applications requiring institutional nomination.

The French Government has launched the Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Programme for 2027. Funded by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, it supports international Master’s and Ph.D. study in France across seven priority fields. The programme is designed to help French higher education institutions attract top international talent. It does not cover tuition fees.
Financial support and duration
Monthly stipends are effective from January 2026. Master’s students receive €1,200 per month, while doctoral candidates are granted €2,100. The scholarship duration varies significantly by academic level and programme type.
| Level of Study | Maximum Duration |
|---|---|
| Master’s Year 2 (M2) | Up to 12 months |
| Master’s Year 1 (M1) | Up to 24 months |
| Engineering Degree | Up to 36 months |
| Doctoral Programme | 12 to 36 months |
Doctoral scholarships begin on 1 September of the award year. Eligible doctoral candidates must be enrolled in a joint programme involving joint supervision or a dual degree with an institution abroad.
Eligibility and application process
Applicants cannot apply directly. They must secure a nomination through a participating French higher education institution. Applications submitted directly by students or by foreign institutions are declared ineligible. The process requires early action. Prospective students must first contact a French institution to align with its internal selection procedures and deadlines. They should prepare strong academic documentation, including transcripts, degree certificates, and a CV. Explaining academic and professional goals related to long-term objectives is key. Global South Opportunities (GSO) said: "All opportunities are sourced from official announcements and external sources for informational purposes only."
Additional support and programme goals
Beyond the monthly stipend, the scholarship provides additional services. These include support for international and domestic transportation, insurance, accommodation searches, and cultural activities. The programme focuses on training future foreign decision-makers in both private and public sectors. Priority study areas are divided into two broad groups. Science and Technology covers Biology and health, Ecological transition, Mathematics and digital studies, and Engineering sciences. Humanities and Social Sciences includes History, French language and civilisation, Law and political science, and Economics and management. The goal is to develop future leaders for public administration, business, and research. Prospective applicants must consult the official 2027 regulations and contact a French institution directly to confirm eligibility and deadlines.
