Globe and Mail Foundation Scholarship for a Syrian Media Professional: Online Journalism Fellowship at the University of Toronto 2026
The Globe and Mail Foundation is partnering with the University of Toronto’s Dalla Lana Fellowship in Journalism and Health Impact to mentor and train a Syrian media worker as a journalist for global media.

The Globe and Mail Foundation Scholarship for a Syrian Media Professional: Online Journalism Fellowship at the University of Toronto 2026 is now open for applications. The fellowship program aims to support a Syrian media professional in their transition to global journalism.
The Fellowship in Journalism and Health Impact teaches subject matter specialists from around the world how to cover their specialties as reporting beats for Canadian and other international media. This program provides an opportunity for a Syrian media professional to receive support and training in a portfolio of journalism skills, including AI for reporting, investigative journalism, and how to build and maintain a freelance practice.
The fellowship program includes a two-week "bootcamp" from September 8-18, 2026, weekly full-cohort teaching and story meetings from September 22, 2026 to March 16, 2027, and skills classes on one Friday/Saturday pair every month from October 2026 through March 2027.
Eligibility for the fellowship includes the ability to join either online from anywhere in the world or in person, with no requirement for in-person attendance. Applicants should have a good working knowledge of English.
