The 11th Africa Energy Innovation Challenge (AEIC) 2026 is now accepting applications from young African entrepreneurs. Organized by the Nigeria Energy Forum (NEF), the competition seeks early-stage innovators to develop solutions in energy management, social enterprise, agribusiness, and fintech using local resources. The initiative connects participants with employment, entrepreneurship, and investment opportunities while advancing value addition and community action across Africa.

## Innovation Tracks

Participants can submit proposals in one of four tracks:

## Eligibility and Submission Requirements

Applicants must:

- Be young professionals aged **18 to 35** from Africa. - Form teams of at least three members, ensuring gender balance (at least one woman and one man). - Submit a **one-page prototype model** (A4 size) including: - Project title and solution (250 words) - Innovation track and expected impact (50 words) - Short abstract (50 words) - Design tools and method (50 words) - Problem statement (50 words) - Estimated costs and timeline (50 words)

## Evaluation Criteria

Submissions will be assessed based on:

- **Local Content:** Use of local resources and expertise to address energy needs in agriculture, education, healthcare, and industries. - **Originality and Creativity:** Novel solutions in underdeveloped research areas. - **Commercial Viability:** Practical, cost-efficient prototypes with clear commercial potential. - **Youth Employment:** Proposals that create job or entrepreneurship opportunities for young people.

## Application Process

- Submissions must adhere to word limits. - Shortlisted candidates will advance to the final round, submitting a **1-page poster**, a **2-page design brief**, and a **2-minute video pitch**. - A public vote on video pitches will be held in **November 2026**.
