ITU Robotics for Good Youth Challenge 2026-2027 Opens for Applications

Applications are now open for the ITU Robotics for Good Youth Challenge 2026, an educational robotics championship launched by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) to promote AI and robotics education among youth worldwide. ## The Challenge The ITU launched the Robotics for Good Youth Challenge in April 2024 to address the need for inclusive and accessible robotics and AI education. The challenge is designed to give participants the freedom to design, build, and program their robots without relying on a mandatory kit, allowing them to source hardware locally and promote sustainable practices. Participants in the challenge will design, build, and program a robot to complete a mission based on a selected global challenge. This not only teaches them technical skills but also essential workplace and future-ready competencies such as teamwork, problem-solving, project management, critical thinking, and information literacy. ## Benefits and Eligibility The Robotics for Good Youth Challenge features two age-based teams: Junior (born 2016-2012) and Senior (born 2011-2008). This division ensures age-appropriate challenges, fostering engagement and learning for all participants. The challenge offers several benefits to its participants, including a Grand Finale Ticket, complimentary Discovery Passes to the AI for Good Global Summit, Youth Zone Exhibition Space and Workshop Access, and opportunities to network with global leaders and gain media exposure. Eligibility for the challenge is open to innovative teams around the world, with a maximum of eight members per team. The challenge is open to both public and private organizations, including government institutions and ministries, which are invited to submit their applications to organize an in-person Robotics for Good Youth Challenge - Local Chapter Event in their countries. ## Application and Deadline Participants have the opportunity to take part in the Competition, either in person if there is a National Organizer in their country or region, or individually and submit their results in video format for the panel of judges to review by 1 April 2027 (2026-2027 edition). Applications to organize an in-person Robotics for Good Youth Challenge close on 01 September 2026. For more information and to apply, visit the ITU Robotics for Good Youth Challenge website.
