Tyla has launched the That Girl Music Scholarship, offering $5,000 grants to ten female students pursuing music and arts degrees. The $50,000 program is tied to her tour and supports undergraduates at accredited institutions in the United States and South Africa.

Recipients must be full-time undergraduate students enrolled at the time of the local concert. They need to be pursuing music or arts-related majors. The scholarship aims to bridge financial gaps in the global music industry. Each $5,000 grant assists with tuition and mandatory fees.

Eligibility and Application

Applicants must demonstrate both significant financial need and academic excellence. Required materials include a one-page personal statement, a 30-second video introduction, an official school transcript, and documentation of financial need like estimated tuition costs.

Priority for U.S. selections is given to students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Eligible candidates must be enrolled at institutions near Tyla's scheduled tour stops. South African applicants may be currently enrolled or planning to enter a university program in 2027.

Geographic Distribution

Ten recipients will be selected, with awards geographically linked to tour cities. Six awards are designated for students in the United States, and four are reserved for South Africa. One student will be chosen from an eligible institution in each specified U.S. market.

Partnership and Purpose

The initiative is a collaboration between Tyla, Sony Music, and the Institute of International Education. It was announced in celebration of her album A*POP. The program connects Tyla’s global tour with local communities to support emerging female talent.

Tyla said the initiative reflects how access to education and opportunities shapes musical development. "By connecting education with her international tour, Tyla is helping bring those emerging voices closer to the industry they hope to join," she said.

Each scholarship recipient will also receive concert tickets and an exclusive meet-and-greet with Tyla. The Grammy-winning artist's career has created global opportunities, and this scholarship directs success toward aspiring musicians. Applications for the That Girl Music Scholarship are currently open for eligible students to submit their materials before the deadline.
